Attention: An important note on the notation of tubular bells

The sound of tubular bells is usually one octave higher than written. E.g.: For a tubular bell set of 2-octaves (F4 – F6), the range is indicated in the score as F3 – F5, i.e., an octave lower. Karl Peinkofer, former percussionist of the Bavarian State Opera states this in his “Handbook of Percussion” (2nd edition 1981, p. 75): “The definition ‘sound as written’ refers to the reverberation tone, because the octave above dominates in the sound mixture of the attack.”

Bell plate rental – handmade bell plates in best quality

We rent bell plates from KOLBERG and PREISSLER with the best sound quality, handcrafted from superior quality bell-brass or bronze. Available range: 3 octaves from C2 – C5. Our bell plates are clearly tuned to A4 = 443 hz.

These bell plates are an authentic alternative to cast church bells. Originally notated in the contra octave, they are used in famous compositions such as Richard Wagner’s “Parsifal,” Giuseppe Verdi’s “Il Trovatore,” Hector Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique,” Pierre Boulez’s “Pli selon pli,” and many others.

Our plate bells are frequently requested by many orchestras. They are also gladly used by international orchestras on tours throughout Germany and Europe.

Tubular bells and bell plates for concert tours in Germany and Europe

Our single tubular bells, our complete tubular bell sets and all of our bell plates are packed in professional customized Preissler flight cases. They can be used – like all our rental instruments – not only for concerts in Berlin and the surrounding countryside of Brandenburg but as well as for entire a concert tour / orchestra travel by truck transport or air cargo within Germany and Europe. No matter if Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, or Prague, Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam. Under certain circumstances we even rent world wide.

Our 2-octave tubular bell set is disassembled due to its very high weight and divided into three flight cases.
